Thread regarding VMware layoffs

This was Michael Dell's strategy ALL along

Why do you think Raghu was chosen by the board to serve as the new CEO?

What are his leadership skills? He is depressing to listen to, with zero energy and zero inspiration. Exactly what you would expect from a CEO and not a person who should be dealing with sorting out product development.

Michael Dell actually WANTED to drive the company into the ground. Yeah, that's right. Why did Sunjay "eject" himself from the C-Suite? Because he has a soul and didn't want to be associated with the demise of the company. Raghu was just a useful id--t who couldn't see into Michael's "short term" strategy.

I am just surprised it took THIS long for this to blow up! Pivotal people partying in Ibiza and directors hitching first-class tickets for a 30-minute appearance is like Atari of the 1980's. What was going to be next? A jacuzzi for their office?

And all you hurt unicorns. Toughen up fellas. It's called REAL LIFE! So you will have to go job hunting. So you will have to act professional and stop walking around in your pj's all day long joining pointless zoom calls. Boo fu----g hoo.

Or throw in the towel now and make VMware unattractive for Broadcom to buy. That's the way to stick it to the "man" . You know who I am talking about, Michael !

With due respect, perhaps Raghu was the best insider option; but it was a
sign that VMW was for sale, I thought.

When a company the size of vmware searches for a new CEO for as short a period as they did, and then gives it to the least inspiring block of warm flesh they could find, you would be forgiven in concluding that something is rotten in the boardroom.

The only thing going for Raghu is that he was not Sanjay. Sanjay would have been 10x worse.

I agree with OP.
As an employee, when Pat left, I figured it was an opportune time to get a Telco expert (I thought partnership with Dish etc to replace current telecom incumbents with SDN was a big opportunity), some other vertical expertise to drive direction and growth. But instead, the CEO fulfilment was just a stop gap, and not with a long term strategy in mind.
