Thread regarding Broadcom Corp. layoffs

Differences between acquisitions

My friend works at VMWare and I understand his concerns and why he is already looking for a new job.

I have a quick question - do you think there will be any differences between this acquisition and the previous acquisitions made by Broadcom?

Hock runs the same successful playbook for every acquisition and nothing will change with VMW. He will cut deep and continue to cut deep. He will also cut current Broadcom employees. While people may HOPE that this will be different, it won’t be. Not trying to be negative here, but Hock knows what success is and he is not about to fail on the largest acquisition of his career. If anything, he will cut even deeper to show Wall Street it can be done. Sad for VMW, but 100% accurate, but the place will be decimated.

No difference in essence or goal. Only a few people under NDR will know what were the adjustments needed for each case.
Some decisions will be easy to make from day 1. When day 2 will arrive, employees/directors from both sides can be impacted during the adjustments.

What's the overlap between Synantec security products and CarbonBlack. Will there be synergies to be made - AKA redundancies. Will Symantec be stripped back to endpoint only?

Given the stated goal of increasing EBITDA, there isnt a reason to believe this will be different. The math just doesn't work. In fact, if you listened to the earnings call while Tom had a new method of going about the business embracing the channel, Hock shot that down fairly quickly. I expect that VMware will join CA and Symantec is software he-l.

Model will be the same but Broadcom will heed learnings from Ca—>Symantec

For BSG…. Don’t be surprised to see some changes for existing bsg employees…. This might be a bit different than what happened with CA and Symantec…. Mark my words…

In what way?

The goal is the same. The path to get there might be different depends company specific situation.
