Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Some will gain , most will loose !

What I have observed from Symantec is those servile folks who cushion up to the higher up bosses will be held back and will get the much needed coverup from a lay off

The top guy in your vertical and a few around him get the final say ! If they ever tell you - this was decided by Broadcom, that is white lies !! Whoever said Broadcom is transparent that’s BS ! They encourage nepotism and favouritism as seen during the SYMC final days !

HR will loose all interest as days roll on and as with the case of Symantec the left over folks who were on their way out were all left to report to one single HR lady in the US . It got that rotten !

The lower level folks always get a raw deal - the director level and above will milk the cash cow both in Sev packages and other last minute parting perks !

Broadcom also skinned many positions so if you are a Director you will most likely be lowered to that of a Manager . That’s how brutal it gets !

Broadcom does not believe in the fancy stuff - forget all the free merchandise, coffee , travel, team events etc .

HT does not believe in employee relations - for him it’s all about the money.

Maybe things will be different here - who knows … however it was brutal at CA & Sym and employees who were left out without an offer were treated miserably and most unethically. It was a rude shock !

Regarding HR, just to show how terrible they are:

  • I left BC 4 weeks in after the CA takeover
  • I was threatened with instant dismissal when I didn't want to sign new T&C (illegal in my country)
  • my exit interview was a SurveyMonkey survey
  • I had to request my exit paperwork several times before I got them after 2 months
  • why? the HR person did not understand what was required
