How can Broadcom grow VMware to seriously compete with Red Hat?

I wonder what you think?

To grow VMware would require Broadcom to invest in growing its container software business VMware obtained from the Pivotal acquisition and has made into Tanzu, Omdia analysts said.
“The question is how will Broadcom treat VMware’s container business? It is not key to VMware being a cash cow and will require an investment push to seriously compete with Red Hat,” the Omdia team said. “Given how focused on costs Broadcom’s leadership team is, it makes us concerned that VMware’s container software business would not get the investment needed to grow, or worse, get the chop.”

This analysis is correct. VMware needs to grow the Tanzu businesses to grow the company but given the current market share and revenue Broadcom would likely sell off Tanzu. Oh and when VMware says multi-cloud they are simply talking about putting vSphere on AWS or GCP, or some other cloud, which is an additional layer that just makes it easier to migrate a workload from one cloud to another in a VM. Consider this being a way to extend the vSphere legacy. It isn't really multi-cloud innovation at the cloud infrastructure layer or at the cloud networking layer.

Much of the collection of Pivotal stuff is of top notch quality.
