The people who were staying knew they were but were asked not to tell anyone. Broadcom sent an email to everyone on Day 1 after the acquisition closed that either laid people off , temporary retained them or offer them a job. Most of the New York office was covered by WARN since they were laying off so many people so they got 3 months of pay. At the very least you’ll get 2 weeks severance per year worked.
thats literally severance - youre told to leave but you get paid until the end of whatever was negotiated
Remember also these laws vary by location. So really you need to know your local regulations as to whether a company is required to notify you. (Same with severance, etc.)
Of course they do! Broadcom is cutthroat but they are subject to the rule of law.
Sometimes if you are lucky they will give warning. But rarely is the case.
