I worked as a contractor and I would not wish my experience on anyone. Raising the minimum wage for all U.S. contract workers were an expected move, but how satisfying is it given the rise in the cost of living?

UM... who cares... Min wage is for entry level jobs. If you want more then min wage work yourself and educate yourself into a better position. The problem with you facebook types is you have had everything given to you on a silver platter. My family was poor, I work while in high school... worked while I was in college min wage I might add. When I came out of college I could not afford rent and slept in my little camper and went the the YMCA for showers (basically I was homeless). Well after grinding it out I landed my first professional job making 70K a year back in 1998... and I worked hard for it. Let's put it this way... working for facebook would be a "downgrade" from my current position.
The minimum wage pay was a large motivator for me to do better, to increase my skills and to try harder. Min wage should never exceed more then 15% of the average wage in a given country. Min wage jobs like I did, flipping burgers and making taco's does not demand anything more than 10 and hour, full stop. So quit crying and get your bu-t in gear!
