Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Careful Now

Don't believe your management, even if you trust them. All the CA managers that were kept knew weeks in advanced and knew everyone that was going to be cut. They planned the teams and such.

No ICs really knew until D-Day.

We got emails-- you were cut, termed, or welcomed to Broadcom. Pay is great, stock is strong. My advice, do your job, don't have anxiety. They will pay you out generously if you are cut. If you stay, hold on to your hats it will be a bumpy ride but if you stick it out it will be worth it.

Managers do not know everything. Adjustments take time and themselves can be at stake.

The pay is good. Regarding the stock, just see how one is performing vs the other... Ofc the dividends. If you will be made an offer, study it well and understand the stock programs before making a decision.

According to levels.fyi, the pay at Broadcom is very low compared to the average at VMware for similar levels. Even with the generous stock grants it’s still lower than VMware.

Never trust do-nothing managers. They want to save their rears before thinking about anyone else. The acquiring company is as cut-throat as it gets!
