Are acquisition rumors delaying hiring?

Had a final interview for a US-based software engineering role over 2 weeks ago. Supposedly the team was eager to fill this position asap. I followed up with a recruiter recently but apparently, no one has received an offer yet.

Then I saw the news about BC and wondered if that would cause delays for new hires.

I love VMware and hope to work there, despite the potential acquisition. My gut tells me that I don't want the company to be acquired by BC and that I have little faith in the current CEO.

VMware would be a questionable place to join before the potential buy out. Plenty of opportunities at more relevant software companies out there.

Move on. If you are a good software engineer (and I am trusting that you are), there are much better places for you to work than here. Go find a better potential employer than this one.

I'm in a similar boat. Finished interviews a few weeks back with excellent feedback. Reached out to my recruiter before the news broke; the only reply was that no offers had been made yet. Anxious to reach out again but don't want to annoy recruiters, who obviously have enough to worry about regarding the likely purchase. Probably best to continue searching for my next role.

All hiring is on hold.

If Thursday tells us the deal is moving forward, don’t count on any positions being filled.

Im hiring at vmw and have a position that i have interviewed several candidates for and my sr director just said to hold on hiring anyone. He said it's because of a budget thing, but who knows. No one below VP levels knows anything. And if they say they do, they are full of it.

Same situation here , been a week since I finished all interviews and got a positive feedback. Now, I don't know if I should consider lucky that this happened before I accepted a potential offer ?
