There's still hope nothing will come out of it. They tried to buy Qualcomm a few years ago and that was blocked, so I'm hoping the same thing is going to happen here as well. Broadcom is known for massive cuts in acquired companies so I wouldn't be surprised if the poster below was correct in his/her estimate.

This is not a good one. I believe this deal will go through. I also, think this has been in talks for a while. Explains why executive leadership has been m.I.a on driving VMware forward. The organization has been leaderless for a while. So obvious it had to be on purpose.
Sadly, this is where VMware ends. If you’re not looking for your next role, you should be. The behaviors will be coming as this gets more real. Good luck to all of you!

And yes, the Tan Man cometh and yields a rusty axe. Engineering should be fine, anyone else is farked. I went thru similar bloodletting....
