Layoffs in the US are age based and those who stay have to age balance those who are let go so there is no age discrimination.
In Europe it was the most experienced in job titles that were kept initially, but after transition was over, Broadcom did extend its offer to an additional 100 support employees to be kept and most if them stayed.

But know this, no matter if you are kept or dropped you will be treated fairly.

If you are back office. 9/10 will be RIF. Others are more like 30–40
% day 1, and then 10-20% over the next 18months.
