Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Lack of real plan

I am not sure if this leadership has any clear plan for the future of this company. They try to convince everyone that they do have it, but it seems as if they have completely lost direction. Thoughts?

Toyota USA employee here.....JF is writing checks that the company can't cash. Instead of focusing on the core business of manufacturing and selling vehicles, you guys went out and paid millions for a dilapidated urban ruin train station to attract a new generation of workers. Who the he-l proposed and approved that? I bet JF.....How does that help Ford produce, distribute and sell more cars?

@2lki+1gS3sqHE You clearly don't understand how many of Model E's functions are dependent on those "legacy" groups. Without them, Model E doesn't exist.

The only thing I can see that this division created is more upper level management positions.

Ford has a plan and is executing it as we speak. The company is in a transformation phase, and it is all changing the way we do business from hardware/capital to software/data cloud. You all keep mocking it all the while not paying attention to the changes going on right in front of you. Model E is the future.

Maybe you can understand by thinking it this way. Would you put effort and money into fixing an old broken computer that is generations out of date, only to put it in your basement storage and never use it again, while concurrently already going forward buying a brand new state of the art new computer that you will now use daily? In this case, the new computer is Ford model E and the old computer is anything Ford legacy (Blue, Industrial, etc.). Makes sense doesn't it!

A lot of people wander what is the plan? The vision. That starts with the CEO & COB. Not the lower ranks.
That vision and plan should be very simple to understand from WS to the man on the line.
But BF & JF first have to gain the trust and confidence of the workforce. Something they have been losing since AM left the company in 2014. Trust and respect are a two-way street. JF is not believable comes across as phony and arrogant. BF comes across clueless. Sorry he is not a visionary or leader. he had the keys before and we almost went chapter 11. So, until we know what the plan is people are going to leave.

That's because upper management have a wish list, not a plan (A plan includes, besides of where you want to end being, the steps needed to reach the goal).

The “plan” is for Farley to jump start his future podcast acting career at the expense of Ford employees and shareholders. We all hope his teleprompter reading skills improve.

The management plan is for all of them from the Board on down to maximize their personal financial situation, even at the detriment of the Company’s financials. Executives looking out for Numero Uno is exactly what is driving Ford out of business, including Bill Ford, the Ford family, Farley and all 100+ who have their photos on the corporate website.

Countdown to the data and services poster coming along to tell us we don't get it, and that Doug Field (lip li---r) is going to save the company by selling vast amounts of data to millions of buyers, not to mention the services that our customers are just going to fork over 100s of dollars for.

That guy.....

It's because JF basically tells us we have to fix everything, completely transform the company, lead the industry in , etc. etc. without focusing us on how we're going to get there like Mulally could. AM made us understand that each of our contributions made a difference and how we contributed to turning the company around. We bought into it and the results spoke for themselves.

Farley is at the opposite end of the spectrum- botched launches, worst in class quality in many cases, endless warranty claims, vague visions of where the company is going, future EV sales projections not believed by Wall Street, declining morale, a revolving door at the top, increased divisions (us vs. them), seemingly unending job cuts, and a growing concern of not knowing where this is all going. We have a dumpster fire going on at the same our CEO is wrapping himself up in racing suits, hosting reoccurring podcasts, and galavanting around her there and everywhere. You do these things AFTER you fix the company, not before. I, and I suspect many others, don't see us accomplishing any of this under his leadership based on what I'm seeing, and I've been around for quite a while. All of this can't bode well for us heading straight into the teeth of a recession.
