Curious to hear if anyone has any neutral to positive stories regarding pregnancy/leave within TBU? Or are they all~discrete~ human rights violations? After finding this site, it has become abundantly clear why the unit has such disproportionate gender representation. Makes sense why so many female team members jump ship considering these horror stories. How embarrassing.

Your post about the vacation and grad mirrors my own in 2018 (TSU!!) I took three days off vacation to attend my family members uni grad in Vancouver, and to visit my extended family out there. Came back somewhat refreshed and was largely ignored by my immediate team that first morning back. WTF? Even after switching BUs, there is something about Pembina where personal or family achievements are oddly not celebrated. You know there is life outside this corporation, right? Buddy of mine (also in TSU!) got married years ago and his manager wanted to know logistics for coverage in his absence. No congrats from anyone or afterwork drinks. So many miserable people here. By the way, if that was my wife who mis-carried and I got wind of what was said about the situation...... It wouldn't be pretty. I still feel for her and the husband. I also know who it was and can confirm it did happen.
Trash company. With my managers approval, I deducted two days of vacation in 2014 to attend a family members convocation in Ontario, and returned to a team that gave me the cold shoulder like I had abandoned them. Miserable bunch of lemmings. In the coming years, I was always reluctant to take vacation.... I eventually took 2 weeks for a trip to Europe and returned to a meeting with HR and a severance package. No noted performance or behaviour issues but didn't put company first. Happy to be gone. Trash company.
It is company-wide. My BU had an incident pre-covid at a company event where a senior manager was handsy and creepy with a young female engineer. She went to her manager who said that the guy was probably just being friendly and to ignore it. She went to HR who were initially supportive but then walked back on it (probably when they learned who the guy was) and told her that there was nothing they could do and that resignation is an option. This was in 2019.
I would never, ever allow my daughters to work in this hoghouse. Period.
It’s company wide , I am not surprised if it happened in TBU, GBU, CBU, etc .
The unethical stuff (pregnant woman, et.al) occurred in TSU. Probably assumed it was a typo.
I'm confused. OP referenced TBU, but responses refer to TSU and AC. What gives?
The posts were largely about AC being an inept alcoholic vegetable who needs to retire. Also him offering shots to summer students and taking his admin for granted. Another post about the VP with C. infront of his name and how he is pretentious. In a nutshell. Who cares about any of them. Go Oilers.
The TSU and AC posts were all deleted. Ruh roh. Someone at the company is having a tantrum.
Pembina is the literal definition of saying "I'm not a racist, but...." or "I'm not sexist or homophobic but...."
Love this site.
Lost part of my post. To answer your question, I am certain there would be some quiet contempt from people as their workloads would potentially be increased. It is the culture to put company first. You only live once. If you are expecting, look for work while on mat leave and surprise them with a resignation when you come back. We don't owe Pembina anything.

This is not just in TSU but in all BU. The main reason there are no positive stories is that even though the managers/supervisor/HR is supportive in your face they talk behind your back and look for excuses to stop your career progression . If you are of a different race , it is automatically assumed you are incompetent and can be taken advantage of . Stories of discrimination are not believed as they assume it is not true . The first reaction is you are lying and get proper proof instead of having a conversation. Unless this is changed as it is still prevalent, there won’t be any stories
