From June, 2018: “ Michigan Central Station, shuttered 30 years ago, will be redeveloped over the next three to four years into a magnet for high-tech talent and a regional destination with modern work spaces, retail, restaurants, residential living and more.”
In May, 2022, four years and over a billion dollars spent later, the train station is nowhere near ready to move in, and nobody at Ford wants an office there. We are still paying rent for empty, unused space at Fairlane Mall, according to today’s Detroit News. All this money being wasted could have been reappropriated to maintaining employees on staff.
Bill Ford is making these poor decisions, not Farley, but Farley isn’t trying to stop him.
