Helix is not in a class of company to merge with the Shell's of the world. At best Shell could possibly buy parts of them if they need them. Sell the rest of the parts on the open market for that kind of thing.

Chevron maybe but not Exxon. I don’t put Exxon in class with Shell, Chevron or even BP in the GOM

As usual Shell buys high and sells low, seen this way to many times within last twenty years. LOL good going Shell you never seem to stop amazing me.

Decent fit. Shell and Helix already partnering. Does Helix still own the deepwater leases it bought a few years ago?

Not sure where this information is from? We entered a multi year contract with them for intervention services in the GoM (not confidential - is in the news), but did not purchase the company. I also see in the news that Helix is looking to acquire Alliance services.

Services, now a days to get them you have to buy whole damn companies. Happened before, not a new thing.

Might not be a bad move, but I'd say it would be more likely that Exxon or Chevron bought Helix than Shell.
