I don't even care if that makes me sound like an as----e, but I pray for layoffs and I pray they include me. I'm done with this place.

I understand your frustration which is probably due to the difficulty of the work and the corporate management style. But most of the other seismic contractors are likely to be just as equally frustrating to work for! A possibility is to change career but that is difficult if you are mid-career because most firms only recruit new graduates. I worked for a number of the well known companies and there were periods when I quite enjoyed it and other periods when I just ground it out. It is a particularly difficult industry because of its bo-m bust nature and the associated threat of redundancy. Anyway, good luck and I hope things get better for you.
Just leave. They payout will be rubbish anyway.

Which centre are you in? Houston?
Business is starting to uptick but not sure about P+I opportunities over there. SW is expanding but most of there actual processing is in the UK and some small centres. Not sure how the ConocoPhillips processing group divestment to SW will impact hiring in Houston.
why not jump rather than be pushed?
if you are good at your job then you should be able to walk into another job.
seems to me there are too many people sitting around doing very little.
A lot of people feel the same
