Is this even possible? Honestly, I think that having a good mentor is a must here otherwise you just get pushed aside.

Look around yourself and see which leaders have the qualities/capabilities you want to develop. Reach out to them and see if they’re open for lunch/coffee. During the conversation, ask if they’d be willing to mentor you. Most people/leaders would say Yes.
Suck up to Don R and tell him you want to talk about career development. Bonus points if you're young/female/blonde or POC.
Doesn't matter if you're good at your job, name recognition is the key to advancement here at Mother Mutual.
