Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

ISM is horrible

I don't know anyone who has a positive opinion of ISM. Maybe someone does after all?

'Own Your Style' is a joke and it will probably be phased out by the end of the year, if not sooner. It's Macy's attempt to be taken more seriously as a fashion destination. By how, spoon feeding ugly head-to-toe looks to your customers? And every store is supposed to be exactly the same even though different cities have different customer bases.

Also, the new fixtures look like Target!

Maybe instead of the DDV quitting, it should be all of the Divisional Vice Presidents that should be fired for coming up with this absurd pilot and then keep it going when they know very well that it isn't working. They could care less about what happens in their stores. They still work from home and are out of touch. And then Own Your Style? Really? In theory, maybe a decent idea but in reality, it does NOT work. At least get the product you promised into the stores to be able to execute this. Nobody at the store level likes any of this or agrees with it. It's senseless and it's only a way to reduce costs. It's bad for customer service and bad for the store environment. And out of touch and lazy management will make this very difficult to sustain in the long term.

Love the Helen Keller comment! Our store is a freaking disaster. Looks like a bo-b went off.

If you think just going through the ISM training is difficult, wait until you actually implement it. Our division was a pilot for this program during the holiday season last year, regional visits were so bad that our district visual manager ended up quitting because the stores looked so bad and they were being blamed even though they had nothing to do with it.

If you think your turnover is high today, just wait until you start asking employees to do markdowns, put out merchandise, open credit, open bronze, do returns, recover the floor, pitch the charity offering of the month, beg for a 10 if the customer gets a survey, clean fixtures, unlock handbags, open myclient, presell for almost every upcoming sales, measure customers, do b-a fittings, mark for alterations, give service to shoplifters because there's no AP in the building, and oh yeah, no more masks required so try not to get covid because your insurance isn't exactly the best. All while paying $5 a gallon for gas to get to work.

Fun times.

All the associates at my store want nothing to do with ISM. They are being put through training that they could care less about. I work on support and ill still be doing 90 percent of the work anyway. I was actually doing two peoples jobs so now I'm down to one. So it works for me. Was offered a Captain position but thats nothing but a bu-t kisser job. NO THANKS I'm happier being a nobody until I can retire

Nothing in Macys stays. The senior executives keep coming up with new stuff and throwing it on to see what sticks. They have no wonder what the stores are like in reality when they aren’t coming in for those rare visits, so how in the heck would they know what will be best??? Macys comes up with new plans and rebrandings, getting rid of positions and renaming them, etc. all the time. There will be something new after it and after that. This won’t last.

Get used to it because it’s here to stay. Hopefully everyone on your team likes each other and will all hold hands through the transition because it is hard AF.
