Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

What's keeping you at Macy's?

It's certainly not one of the better employers, even just in retail. It's not hard to find a new job, it took me all of two weeks once I started looking. Greener pastures abound, and yet so many of you are refusing to take advantage of it. Is it the familiarity vs. the unknown? Or something else?

I am a former employee of MACYS and was at one time very proud to be .It is no longer a great store to work for they are not very accommodating with the hours wanted to work and there is not enough help which is partly not their fault as no one seems to want to work or the ones that do come to work don’t stay because they see what is expected of them the changes they are making are not good for the employees and they don’t seem to care a happy employee is a very productive one but I think they don’t seem to know this Sadly

Macy’s is running me into the ground so by the time I’m too exhausted to search for a new job, much less polish my resume and prepare for an interview at another company in another industry. I am too worn out.

Yet- still find the time to come to this site and post.

I work at Macy's as a side job, so that's why I stay. I don't really need to work there and I can quit at anytime. It's nice to make a little extra money and I work when I want.

Comfort, the people I work with, my seniority when it comes to job security and PTO and working in an union store. If I find something significantly better, I will definitely leave. But mostly I am comfortable in my position even though it’s chaos and there is too much work.

@igz It's nice to see a positive and sensible response instead of the constant whining by others.

For me it's kind of a combo of things. The location of my store from home is about 25 minutes. The people I work with, I enjoy working with, and probably the biggest, is my pay. I make considerably more compared to my peers who are at the same position at other locations. Also, my store is a profitable one!

In my town it’s either Macy’s or Walmart. I’ll work at Macy’s if given that sad choice.
