Thread regarding Neiman Marcus Group layoffs

Have employees ever been important here?

I haven't been here long and I think I won't stay long. I am surprised at how little employees are valued here. An older colleague told me that it used to be much different at Neiman Marcus, but from this perspective it is really hard for me to imagine that it was ever much better here.

Is this a real question?
Back in the day NM was a great place and nobody wanted to leave. Some stayed longer than perhaps they should have. But where are we today? This reminds of JC Penny hiring Ron Johnson from Apple. He fired everyone, brought in only his friends and they ridiculed everyone who had any sort of tenure, was aloof and didn’t listen or care to learn from others. And that was a disaster. GVR didn’t have any of the prior success Johnson did at Apple but he is very similar in how he operates. The only difference is GVR is a wh-z at creating positive press and looking good. Johnson couldn’t do that. But neither built up trust and really don’t care to.
