Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

I think I figured out the problem…

The execs at Citrix never adopted OKRs. If they did, they would have not been in this situation

Good mgmt would have recognized aging products and would have focused on new markets and emerging technologies to transition to.

Not hard to figure out. But the ELT couldn’t think their way out of a house-on-fire scenario

Guys, while management is bad, it's not the reason Citrix is in the shape it's in. It's in bad shape because the products are old and getting older. That's it. You could have great management and sales would still flag because virtual apps and desktops just isn't a key segment anymore as a standalone set of products. Having better management would have stopped a lot of attrition but it would not have saved Citrix as an independent company.

The problem at Citrix has never been a performance metrics issue, it's always been a manager skill and competency issue. Look around at the people who were recently promoted to Director, merely because they chose to stay and support the ELT position.

Sheepish, pitiful, incompetent, cheerleaders...

Maybe they had an OKR that said -

Get company sold, destroy employee morale and bank PRSUs so Bobby knuckles and the ELT can retire.

All crooks.

Citrix was never set up to succeed.

Calderoni used it as an ATM for himself and for others who just nodded and did what he wanted.

Been this way for years.

Is this a joke? Seriously, OKR's could have saved Citrix?

Not true. They would have just rigged the numbers to make it look good. Instead they just dragged their feet and came up with BS that didn't even resemble OKR's.

I think he’s saying that Citrix has tried every other non-sensical initiative (eg SAFe,…) that one of them (OKRs) shoulda worked
