After some time I'm leaving Citrix as well. Following many others that have either quit or have been laid off. What is happening at Citrix is not entirely unique to itself as the problem. Citrix being a larger company should be more equipped to handle these type of staffing issues and employee burnouts, but this all went downhill when unrealistic expectations were set up to investors and those goals were not met. It was like a domino effect and the CEO and CFO were gone in a flash once the investors saw the catfish tactic. Now we're in the position we're in now. Mind you this is not exclusive to support as we've lost plenty of people from a multitude of departments aside from Product Engineering for some of our biggest money makers (I know broken record here).
Do I think Citrix will recover? Sure in maybe another 2-3 years down the road and some people are just not going to wait that long, the uncertainty about the Tibco/Vista merger adds another element of uncertainty as everyone already knows. On top of that the culture is not quite the same anymore and the Tibco employees have not even merged with us yet.
Do employees have a right to be angry and disappointed? Yes but there's no need to cry over spilled milk, we have our choices either stick around and see what happens or move on for good and don't look back. I'm glad I made mine and I look forward to seeing the people I worked with hopefully grow whether they move on or don't, I've worked with some great people and I always treasure that without a doubt.
In the end It comes down to a simple choice really... Either get busy living or get busy dying.
