Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Unions ultimate sell out to corporatatioma

When the told the union man his house wife had to join the labor force and start working as a wage slave along side her husband to help lower wages by increasing the supply of cheap labor.

The unions applauded and beat their cheats and chanted “equality”.

I remember some of the old timers who railroaded from the 70’s - 90’s. They lived in big nice 5+ bedroom houses next door to doctors, had nice new trucks every few years, and their wives happily stayed at home. Thanks to our unions failing contracts thats not the case anymore. Heck these days the border patrol now makes more than us and they only work 40hrs a week! Railroaders in the 70’s made almost 50% more than those guys.

Stupid post. The unions didn’t tell the working man his wife needed to go to work, in fact they were totally against this in the 50’s and 60’s. Society changed and a lot of women wanted to go to work instead of being housewives. You are right about the cheap labor as women weren’t paid the same as a man working the same position or given promotion opportunities that the men were. None of this has anything to do with unions selling out for cheap labor. My wife works today and doesn’t have to financially as we have our house paid off and few bills. She works to have something to do instead of sitting in the house alone while I work. Ihave always been critical of the railroad unions giving up way too much in negotiations, but we put up amateurs to go against lawyers in these negotiations. Too many union elections are about popularity instead of qualifications from local chairman up. Sometimes we are our own worst enemy.

Seems like they are putting up a good fight to me at the national level. I think it’s up to the rest of us to stand up at a local level. I know guys in my terminal go out of their way to help the company meet goals making it easier to do more with less. Every time guys break rules for quits or come to work sick and fatigued your just making it easier for company to continue the abuse.

Great post! Yeah too many dont realize that middle class americans had to convert to 2 income households just to stay middle class. Ever since we went off the gold standard look up how much average CEO incomes have multiplied.
