I wanted a promotion - until I got promoted. I should have inquired a little better whether it’s really worth getting a promotion.
In my case, the promotion was accompanied by a raise that's much lower than I expected, but it brought me an enormous amount of work and stress. I am almost certain that many have regretted giving their all to get a promotion.
So you are saying that they are lazy, can’t follow directions, and are insubordinate? That’s what I noticed too.
Congratulations... This is the industry post the "great crew change". Spent the last five years of my career having to convince junior staff that the the tasks assigned had personal value and worthy of their effort. If it wasn't interesting enough, they generally found something else that made them happy. These are Wildcatters of the next generation.

If you don’t want to be a supervisor then just tell management you don’t want that. If you are an excellent technical professional you will be promoted along the technical ladder. Now if you don’t want responsibility then the company doesn’t want you and you can just take a hike.
SMH. I can’t believe you are crying about getting a promotion and having more responsibility and workload. Please leave.
Hear that. Unless you are on a promotion ladder to the next level being a Team Lead level is still working and supervising on the side. People still want their work done whether you are a lead or not. If you are young a lead is a stepping stone to something higher that will payoff later, but if you are older it is better to be a good contributor and leave the stepping stones to the young. That is just my opinion, but it is hard to say no when people believe in you whether young or old.
