Please help me to understand why I keep hearing hours through the store is being cut to the bare minimum while some support colleagues get a fix 40 schedule with overtime on top of it. I was told they are grandfathered in because of the years they have been working for Macy's. Is there such a thing as grandfathered with a fix schedule? Please help me make some sense out of this.

This will change for front of house support team in June
The support team schedule is based on the workload for the week. Signing, trucks markdowns and floor moves. That why they work 40 hours the Ovm input their schedules
All that grandfathered business is gone.
its not "grandfather" is "a$$kisser" now
No, I was explicitly told by either SWST or the schedule production team, I forget which, that there is no such thing as "grandfathered" anymore, and the schedule options such as FT 35-40 that you see in the system are obsolete. So yes, it's just favoritism.
I work in an union store and we have colleagues that have set fixed schedules but that’s because they have been with the company for like 20-40 years.
This is still common on former May company store locations based on an employees hire date and some state laws.
Yes it is called Macy’s nepotism. This goes on in our store all the time. The employees that that the manger likes even though they do not work hard are promoted, given raises and are allowed to work in only the areas they like.
Hmmm... "grandfathered" is a term that hasn't been used in my Region for a few years, let alone a "fixed schedule" . Every colleague is being affected, no matter how many years. Worked hours are being watched by the minute and there is no overtime unless it is approved.
