Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

Improvement

I would really like to hear an example of a store where positive changes and improvements have started to happen. I have friends at several stores and they all say their store has never been worse.

Are all stores becoming more miserable or is it possible that there are some where the atmosphere is a little better now than it used to be?

You "met" them doing transfers but you used to be a team outside of the store? We totally understand friendship but sounds the OP was only posting to get negative feedback. If you have so many BBBY friends why post here?

I think they understand but don't want to because it doesn't fit their narrative of pumping hope into this company. Therefore the OP is discredited in their eyes, whereas the OP is generally speaking their own personal truth.

I know people in several stores. It used to be a lot more before they were closed. Years of doing inventory at 20 different stores I made friends, I kept in touch. I made friends calling other stores for transfers when we used to do that and they would call me when they needed something. We used to work together as a team beyond the store. Are you people so introverted you can’t understand someone who makes and keeps friends?

I too think it is odd the OP.said they have friends working at several stores. How far away? So you have 5 friends working at five different BBBY? IMHO another case of maybe someone fibbing.

From my area it’s impossible to give you an example of improvement. All the stores are running of a shoestring budget so there is no staff to do these tasks and resets that pile up every day. There is no staff for put away so conveyances just sit and trucks stack up because receiving has nothing to put anything on. And when we do get a chance to do put away there’s so many rooms in need of resetting that the merchandise has no home so it just gets plopped anywhere creating even more issues. Not to mention the fact that we are still getting Christmas which is taking up backstock space because it’s no longer on promo. There’s just so much that’s broken in the stores now. I agree with trying to become current in the online market but they should have left the stores processes alone. Because there was absolutely no improvement there at all

Corporate goon, not corporate stooge. C’mon man!

Okay, so I see a pattern here. Apparently, anyone who posts anything positive is a corporate stooge, while anyone who posts anything negative is a spoiled teenager. I get it, and I can appreciate it. However, perhaps we're trying to overanalyze things. Perhaps we should step back and look at the big picture. What if, instead of dividing up into stooges and teenagers, we were, in fact, just one big gang of whoopty doof-dah mollywonkers? What if we just came to a realization that humanity as a whole was the problem, and that none of this matters after several beers? I believe we would all be a lot happier.

This thread, like many others is a joke. More complainers yet they stay at BBBY. Bloomingdles, Macys, Walgreens and many others have 3 hour shifts

i was told by a former supervisor YEARS ago that at the very least, they're told to have at least one negative comment on a review to keep the raise rate down. besides just saving money, the idea is basically that if a manager gave a great review, employees would get complacent and stop trying; yeah, because getting cr@pped on no matter what you do is real motivation, ha!

Reviews are a total scam at BBB. The increase percentage for all associates is decided back in January, February the latest which is three full months before reviews are presented. The increases (if you want to call it that) are so small there is practically no difference between someone who is performing as they should and someone who is underperforming. Compensation at BBB has not even been cost of living for almost a decade now. I would rather get a bad review and practically nothing in return than a glowing review and get the same practically nothing. It's a slap in the face for those who actually work and get compensated the same or barely any better than those that don't. Even more so that whatever is stated in your review really has no impact on your compensation as it was decided months before you even got reviewed.

To the OP: you will not hear good things on this board and I think you already know that. You have friends at several stores??? Sorry but that sounds "odd". I swear the same posters post to stir up negativity. Why di you and your "friends" still work at BBBY?

Things getting better is a laugh. Our hours were SLASHED this month. Managers were essentially told to give bad reviews so they didn’t have to increase wages. Our conversation rate sucks. We’re losing money and peoples trust.

Years of bad management has finally caught up and the Jack-a** in there now has no idea what he is doing. It’s like JC Penney and Ron Johnson all over again.

Um…..I have worked for BBB for five years and was told “we don’t do breaks”. That’s been the standard. If you work 5 you get a lunch. There’s no extra. 4.5 hours gets you NOTHING!!

…Meanwhile at Target a 6 hour shift used to get you a 31 minute lunch AND a 15 minute PAID break. Don’t know if that is still the case, but you wonder why many hate it here.

It’s because you don’t treat employees with RESPECT!! You run all over us, pay us little, and yell at us for trying to improve. And there’s little to no incentives if you do anything well.

Sorry I’m shocked at being scheduled only 3 hrs. I’ve never heard of a company only scheduling a 3 hr shift .I fully understand part time but this is nuts.
Show me another company that schedules the same way

In a 3 hour shift no breaks are required so we get maximum productivity. If they work more than that they usually come on her to complain about how hard the job is. Remember we are in business for ourselves, not to make it easier or better for workers. If you don’t like it, leave. That’s the BBBY motto!

I would like to know the person that stated BBB has the best practices and routine’s. How can a 3 hr shift be best practices. We are seeing some or most stores are cutting hrs down to 3 1/2 to 3 hr shifts. This is insane! BBB hiring more employees only to give them maybe 2 to 3 days @ 3 hrs each. Who is in charge does HR see this. Total waste of time and money. Is this the best direction BBB has taken.

This evening my store operated with only 2 employees in the building from 3 to close. There was a cashier and the LOD. Not good, no improvements in sight and things have never been worse than they are now. That might sound like a complaint to some but it's also a fact.

BBBY has some of the best practices and routines to run a successful and positive store in all of retail. Negativity is only brought on by poor store employees. Embrace the company and you will live long and prosper. Stop complaint like a petulant child! Everyone on this board is tired of it.
