Anyone at other stores struggling with having/ getting too much merchandise? Trucks lately have been pretty big for this time of year and we have no room for this stuff. Stockrooms are filled and becoming a mess. Backstage sends too much and ends up being left unopened on the dock as there isn’t enough people to process it. Hold and flow boxes is the same issue.

Our store was one of the ones that already went integrated selling last year and the product barely gets off our dock and we still have damages and returns from Christmas sitting in our stockrooms. Most of the support team went out and found new jobs so our OVM quit and now we have just Sales Managers and mostly sales people trying to put merchandise out.
It's a good thing that we have plenty of stockroom space to just shove the crazy amount of stuff that keeps coming in as not much is getting to the sales floor. Store Manager just received her bonus and is on her second interview for another job. Our store was never caught up but after we rolled out integrated selling its been a downward spiral every since. Good luck to the rest of the stores come June.
In our store it's either feast or famine, depending on the brand. Another issue is supply chain problems- yes, it's still a thing. Our store recently received a huge delivery of women's INC merchandise: big fluffy turtleneck sweaters, heavy long sleeve tops, long-sleeve knit dresses, more fashion coats, etc. Just what people want to buy for the up-coming warmer months. Spoiler alert: The stuff was supposed to arrive in December.
Merchandise is being back-stocked as it comes off the dock- already taking first markdowns before hitting the floor, or worse, getting marked down to go straight into Last Act.
But the biggest problem of all, outside of lack of staff, is the energy devoted to maintaining our clearance area. Why does this company care that Last Act is sized for crying-out-loud. Really?
The Last Act fixtures are so packed (we're told to get ALL the merchandise out) that we wind up damaging out a lot because the clothing gets trashed by customers trying to shop the over-stuffed fixtures.
With so little man power, long lines and tons of rods filled with current merchandise both from returns and the fitting rooms (that we can't get back on the selling floor), why is Macy's chasing the customer who only wants to buy $6 blouses from Last Act??!!!
Shouldn't the focus be on the new seasonal clothing coming in? Or at least the merchandise that has just taken a first markdown at 40 or 50% off??
We are located in a high-end mall. Anyone else out there also being asked to devote so much attention to their clearance area?
Yes, there’s so much merchandise on the floor and then back stocked. I don’t know what Macys buyers are thinking. Makes no sense. Are they even making money? If there’s so much merchandise.
Yep. Same in the store I am at. We have backlog that about 2 trucks worth of merchandise. No equipment at all cuz all the rods are in the fitting rooms. We have about 160 rods if fitting room rods. The senior management don’t care. But they are so push the pilot information down our throats . There are going be many opens after this program starts in June. Nobody wants to work at macys
Yep, same here, and our store manager okayed a transfer of a ton of unsold merchandise (3+ pallets) from a neighboring store because we "needed the merchandise". The majority of it is sitting on z-racks in a stockroom because we have nowhere to put it.
