Thread regarding Nordstrom layoffs

Store Closures?

I’d say especially if your market has too many stores for the area, watch for a closure. Boston, for example has far too many full line locations and they cannibalize each other’s sales. I could see them closing Northshore as its sales are absolutely abysmal. However, they could choose to close South Shore.

The recent shootings and incidents all seem to show up on the news with the Nordstrom in the background. Not a great look.

A few years back a violent protest broke out in downtown Indianapolis with Nordstrom in the background of all the news footage.

The store closed the next year, as many shoppers had the perception it was unsafe and went to the store on the north side instead.

Watching lending crater, we’re headed for a serious economic dislocation, particularly in bubble real estate (and all the fluff service economy that depends on it). From these heights it will make 2008 look like a picnic, and take down the banking system again. It begins at the end of April.

It gets really spicy if VAIDS is confirmed from the, um, therapies. Then you get a +90% die-off in woke places like Seattle and a Mad Max future.

Nordstrom has the overhead of 3 web store FCs to support through this. It was only a couple of years ago that Erik was apologizing to Wherever, CA, about cancelling the West Coast FC planned for that town.

Since then they decided to push ahead and build it anyway. But this will be hard to carry through a real recession (or worse).
