Thread regarding Ricoh layoffs

Can it go from bad to worse

In the last 2-3 weeks our field service team had 2 techs quit and find better paying jobs (no surprise there). Our service call volume was already high at that point as we never recovered from all the covid related job cuts and now we're drowning being 2 techs down. There's job openings for our team available but nobody is interested in working for the peanuts that ricoh is offering

Ricoh thought it was wise to let go of the most experienced to save money. They hired inexperienced techs that need training for at least the first year and they get no value from while in training. I was let go and I had 3 comptia certs, was trained on all sorts of Ricoh equipment as well as rev retail adjacency’s. I also was in the military reserves where I would deploy every couple of years and Ricoh didn’t have to pay me. I had 20 years experience and was replaced with a 20 year old who I had to follow up on due to his lack of experience. This was the path Ricoh thought was wise. You pay people 15-16 an hour. It’s easy to find a job in the pay range. So Ricoh gets no value from the training they pay for on these new hires.

It’s not just the peanuts. It’s the lack of confidence in peanuts being there in the future. “ricoh” not exactly synonymous with a stability.

“Where’s my tech?” Somewhere else making better money with way less stress?
