Hey complainers, isn't it better to get out of here when you get another offer than after you've been laid off? People like to say they’re above all this here and can’t wait to get laid off, but I don’t think there’s much truth in that. It's easy to make complains but it doesn't do much good. Are there any tips on how to actually keep a job here?

The only reason people want to get laid off is the severance. Citi has a lot of long time employees. 20 years of service, at 2 weeks of severance for every year is what keeps a lot of people at Citi. My guess is that the days of big severance checks are over. And if they want to get rid of people, they will just make it miserable on them or sell off units. Do you see a trend beginning?
The main problem is the glamorization of overworking until you have no life other than Citi. If you can conform to that way of life, then you’ll do just fine.
