I don't care, it needs to be said. Times are tough right now. The leadership made a decision that was necessary for Hy-Vee to survive. We might not like it but it is what it is - a necessary move for the good of the entire company. I understand many are hurt by what has happened but try to see it from the other side as well.

Any executives who really cared about Hy-Vee would immediately volunteer for FT retail duty. Who cares if you're an accountant or an attorney or an architect or a PR flack? You aren't doing diddly for the company holed up in your office while there are trucks to be unloaded, shelves to stock and groceries to bag. You heard Fearless Leader -- it's offensive that you think you're too good to work retail. Get out there!
Randy should do labor cut to all vp and above at corporate. They should only make a 100k a year. Oh you say that’s too little of pay and they will just leave HyVee. We then leave if you refuse to work for only a 100k. I guess you don’t truly love HyVee enough to take a sacrifice when things aren’t good. You probably shouldn’t be working at HyVee at vp level if you can’t sacrifice too. The real news is the VP don’t produce real results so maybe it time for them to take a wage cut until HyVee is getting the results Randy deserves.
I'll bet Fareway is financially sound. They stay in their lane and do it better than the competition. If they ever branch out, I'll bet they gather their facts and make sound decisions with the whole company in mind. Hy-Vee has an opulent home office in WDM that is fed by skimming profits from the DC's, resulting in overpriced groceries and the leadership of the company having a skewed view of themselves. We're a grocery chain. We all put our pants on the same way.
It's not the layoffs. It's the lying, the arrogance, the condescension, the bullying, the management rants and temper tantrums. Layoffs were a one-day story; management's attempts to spin this mess have turned it into a 10-day saga (and counting).
do you fear for own job or are you one of Randy's yes poeple of 93000 of us. please answer question honestly. np laying off 121 folks ii's message in media about that my issue. fyi. in my opinion brought on by oursevles
You hit the nail right on the head.OVEREXTENDING IS EXACTLY WHAT IS HAPPENING.This will catch up to them and it won't be pretty..
How does Randy’s boot taste?
Lol, who the fu-k cares what is best for hyvee? Your responsibility is to your family, not some sh---y retail grocery store that doesn't think twice about kicking you to the curb. Stop being a cuck.
I left 2 years ago after almost 20 years, best thing I could have done. Hyvee was a good company but I didn't like the management structure anymore, so I moved on. What upsets me is when employees find out from customers what's going on with AOL. How embarrassing for the AOL manager to hear from a customer their AOL is being combined with another store. They really should just concentrate on being a grocery store. Shelves are a mess, no checkers, waiting in line. Not the same as it was 20 years ago. Motto used to be if you had to choose between putting out a fire or helping a customer, customer comes first. Seems the fire is at the top. Get back to helping the customer, then go put out that fire.
Being honest should be your best policy. Something Randy has yet to grasp. Store directors know all of the bad ideas that don’t work and are not profitable. We all turn in a P and L and see it. We all try your ideas but they don’t work and you keep making up throw good profits at bad ideas. Change is good but trying something that doesn’t work and keep trying it will cost HyVee.
They have no problem spending millions on Race tracks, drivers, football players, B list actors and rights to a singers songs.
Almost no one is upset about the layoffs, we are all adults and understand how business works.
People are rightly upset with how poorly it was executed, lying to the media and trying to gas light everyone, with holding information until someone got back from vacation and the tone deaf insensitive bizarre messaging and the irrational fued with a local media outlet and taking absolutely zero accountability for any of it.
What you are trying to do is called false equivalence and it's deceptive and dishonest.
Absolutely no one wants to wake up and put their energy and life into supporting this. I'm new to the company had absolutely no opinion about senior leadership until now and it's entirely negative now.
The board needs to pull him in and we need effective communications and relations people, it's obvious just by looking at the body language of the lady in the last video that she's completely unable to be objective and is basically just operating as a puppet to extend this dudes sh---y message.
Lastly I think people are waiting on a apology, a lot of people have already made up their mind and are going to be accepting the first job offer, more people are on the fence and waiting for something that resembles and earnest conversation and apology.
The problem is our leadership continually overextends the company financially with frivolous initiatives and expenditure. That's what leads to the current situation because they're inept. That doesn't excuse them for being called out on it. It's time for regime change at the very top.
