So, what brought about today's surprising news? I'm sure it wasn't done out of the goodness of management's heart. Too many people abandoning ship? Or just a carrot that can easily be revoked by fudging the numbers come December.

That's exactly what is going to happen!
It means they are desperately trying to keep people thru the end of the Fiscal Year when Hock announces his retirement & the stock craters
nothing done here is for the benefit of employees. there's certainly a nefarious angle here. agree with other post that either threes get a massive push or percent of threes are much higher.... and yeah, forget raise of any consequence...

It means the merit raises will be a joke and Octane will get rid of most rank threes in a few months. More will quit before the end of the year. I am not waiting 9 fking months! crumbs.
