Leadership deals only with minor, secondary things and push the main issues under the rug. Perhaps they expect problems to resolve themselves? Are they really worried about the future of UP at all? I watch the best ones leave, I watch the newbies leave... Problems are just piling up.

I learned a long time ago, if I brought up an issue at the morning meeting I'd get tasked to fix the problem. What once was a badge of honor to identify a problem has turned into look the other way and let someone else deal with it. That's what I say is the UP Way.
They don’t care about knowledge anymore. It’s all about brining in millennials who think differently than folks with any understanding of how things go. This is why the company is losing people with 15+ years. Senior management doesn’t care. They don’t want experience. They want cheap labor that will change the world.
It’s near impossible to imagine building anything from the top down. In UPs case there are some really good solid employees with positive work ethics lower with in the it’s structure, that CAN support the top being rebuilt.
They do what they can. Like the guys who cant produce or improve anything lookimg for rules violations. They cant do anything to move freight faster or more efficiently/ The ones that actually could improve something cant do anything that would cost any more money. So they seek the incidental & the inconsequential to justify their jobs.
No, the executives are simply trying to keep the costs down and the truth hidden as long as possible, so as to not scare the investors. When the execs or investors start leaving, then one could assume that all control has been lost. The UP is a sh1thole. The executives in Omaha absolutely have to know what's going on. The fact that the UP is a three time winner of worst employer in North America is just too big to ignore. The problems that are being swept under the rug should be obvious to everyone right now. Let's see you have morale problems, fatigue issues, retaliation issues, threats from management, equipment issues, lack of equipment issues, track issues, personnel shortages, lack of new hires, and the majority of the management teams inability to address anything. All of these problems can be fixed, but the biggest problem is at the top. Fix that first, then move on to the next
What are the issues you see getting swept under the rug? I see retention and hiring qualified employees being issues. I don’t like the long trains and lack of maintenance, but UP senior leadership values high stock prices and short term profits over long term investments in the organization.
Keep on extending those sidings. That will solve all the problems.
