Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Friendly while hiring, not so much afterwards

During the hiring process everyone was really friendly. Lots of optimism, cheerful mood... And then, just after I started working, everything became totally different. My manager became very hostile. It is very strange to see their behavior while they are hiring people compared to how they behave after people accept the offer.

What's Ethicspoint? And how do I get in touch with them?

Lowe’s is one of the most toxic work environments that I have ever been in, and the way the managers turn on you is part of it. The sheer amount of negativity, threats, and intimidation from the asm staff is what finally drove me out after a long career with the company. It was smothering and sucking the life out of me. I finally woke up and realized, “ They obviously don’t value me anymore. Why should I put up with this kind of environment?” I turned in my letter of resignation to the store manager and politely walked out. I miss the comradery that I had with some of employees but that’s it. I now work for a small business where everyone is like family and all kinds of perks—paid time off whenever I want, an easy-going/comfortable work environment, mon-fri 830-5 with an occasional saturday, no nights or sundays, no corporate metrics to constantly be beat in the head about, and great relationships with management/ownership.

DS who quit in anger told me that he couldn't take it anymore. How they brainwash the mgrs to think "these associates are sc-m, are you gonna let them drag you down? Take away your bonus?" They also have pet names for all associates..some racist, some sexist , but all degrading. He said they told him to play mind games, pretend to be their friend to take advantage, make them come in at 3a and slave away while the mgmt gets all the credit. He was told he was too nice and needed to pull out his as----e card..dont worry if you get reported to ethicspoint WE GOT YOUR BACK!
He is now happy and a supvr in a better positive workplace where the employees willingly and happily work hard. It's lead by example Lowes! You will never understand that.

I've had that happen once before. I allowed it once, but called them on it the second time. Hey, are you ok? Have I done something that upset you? Stammering, stumbling, then grumbled something about "You need to quit worrying about me and go do your damn job." Nope! Find someone else. Buh-bye.

Life iis too short. If that's what you get on day 1-2 of a job, you walk. At least... that's what I did. Imagine what it will be like on day 100 or so. NOPE!
