I don't know what it's like in other stores is, but ours is very dirty, disorganized and chaotic. I'm not against the company investing "to create positive social change", but can't $5 billion be distributed a little differently? It is sad how this company is failing.

This money isn’t being donated. It’s merchandise spend they’re trying to pass off as philanthropy.
I agree clean your dirty stores!!!
Grim, grey and bright? Your right it is called dirt! Filthy bathrooms, fitting rooms, elevators. Worn or dirty
un-vacuumed carpets, outdated fixtures, lighting. Some stores still look like the old May Company.
Yes the stores need remodeled but at least start with cleaning them.
It this Social Change thing a tax write off?
No offense but the majority of Macys I shop around the country could use a little TLC. There's kind of a grim grey & beige feel. The bathrooms, elevators & dressing rooms are the worst.
I'm older so I know there have been few if any changes since the mid 1980s. It is the same store.
What do the “experiential” stores get?
That $5 billion is going to all those fancy new fixtures in the "Inspiration" stores. Have you seen them in the prototype stores? Everyone says they look exactly like Target!!
Deerbrook in Humble Texas needs a total gut job
Macys is trying to appeal to all and help in areas that could use it but definitely the stores need work, at least a lot of them, especially the old Bambergers buildings. The old saying “Charity starts at the Home” really applies here. I see a lot of stores that need some type of Reno work including ceilings, lighting, replacing disgusting rugs etc. Also those stores that don’t have updated network switches to allow for IP Phones. The Boscovs store near me just did a major Reno and floor moves and looks great. They don’t make nearly what Macys does.
Agree. That is what I thought when I read about this. It’s great and all? But there are also a lot of internal problems. Low staffing , many stores in disrepair, warehouse capacity issues. Broken Fixtures on the floor, and signs/carpets/paint from the 90s
They could allocate some of this money differently to make sure Macy’s is around in 20 years.
