I'm thinking that once the acquisition is completed, we might be offered a chance to volunteer for a layoff rather than having them start to cut people indiscriminately. If that happens, what would it take for you to volunteer? What kind of severance package would be appropriate in this case?

Hey. Anybody remember what Kirill got? How many million? They got rid of me for a lot less.
Citrix already has standard severance policies for director and above. If you are a director or higher, you will fair far better than those sr manager and below.
The poster is just asking. Don’t shoot him/her down.
I’d say a month per year would be fair. Though agree it’s not necessarily what you might get.
It’s irrelevant what me or you consider fair. Companies will pay what they are legally obligated to. Some companies have people left in there with some degree of conscience and may pay a bit more. Citrix will do what Citrix does, what Elliot/Vista may or may not do is another thing. I personally won’t be waiting away for severance as there are much better options out there now.
It is pointless to even discuss it. The severance cost is already calculated in the cost of the acquisition. Asking employees to volunteer for layoffs many times backfires because too many people want to leave.
