I wonder what the impact of US sanctions against Russia will be for Teradata. Sberbank at least is a massive customer. There are also VTB and retailers.

A cloud only company seeks to work more closely with a country that doesn’t have a public cloud strategy…
Maybe they could reverse engineer themselves into a failing, legacy business and then try to manage the sanctions in addition to workload.
Confucius say ‘Ignorance is bliss until you realise it is you that are truly ignorant’
Will be interesting to see what happens longer term as a certain cloud only competitor has direct links into the Russian government and they are looking to increase their support for the Russian leadership
The last comms finally achieves the right message and tone. Well done SM and thank you.
I'm disgusted that our CEO has not taken a strong stance against the Russian invasion. You can still care about our employees in Russia AND be against the inhumane war that Russia has waged.
Colleagues in Russia may feel differently if their salaries are not being paid because there’s no money in the local bank and the mortgage rates just went through the roof.
Then again, maybe they like Putin’s latest ideas and are happy to set themselves back into isolation - again. Hard to tell in Russia sometimes.
It depends on how much money TD has tied up with Russia vs Ukraine, that'll base who our corporation stands with. Yeah we get 'blah blah blah' internal emails about 'caring' but I doubt they'd never do anything publicly, and if we do, it'll be TOO LATE as usual.
I'm pretty sure our colleagues in Russia who try and do their job with professionalism could not be possibly equated with that country reckless leader. I think many of them regard what's happening as a sheer tragedy. Having said that, I do believe that our CEO is keen to virtue signal where there is an opportunity for revenue by playing the woke card among peers, but much more reluctant when revenue from our "valued customers" is in peril. Much disinterested ethics, eh?
BTW, on the recent Ukraine situation e-mail, I can only be amazed at how our CEO has now discovered impartiality, where in the BLM US riots he took quite a partisan stance. Tough to spell out who are the baddies on this one, SM? Doesn't look as hard to me this time, but I may be wrong too, so... think twice next time before venturing into debates without the knowledge... Cautionary tale for all technologists who think a highly functioning brain is necessary _and_ sufficient to right the wrongs of the world - it is only necessary, not sufficient. Can have history, politics or "social responsibility" as a hobby, but it may do more harm than good. So yeah TD stick to creating great technology, that's already a big achievement.
Regular readers, hello to both of you, why are you still here Andrey and Zohair ?
The challenge with our Russian customers, NotNC, is that they like to think they are extra special (needs) and therefore require special (services) contracts.
Our country manager has obliged them and as such, it can be quite hard to shut said services down.
If we do, large sums of money may have to be returned to organised facilitators of large deals and half the EMEA revenue has gone.
