That’s not entirely true. Some companies are giving preemptive inflation raises. Ten years ago this company was giving retention bonuses.
In my opinion, it all depends on the supply vs demand and right now there are lots of talented folks choosing to stay despite the concerns.
I don’t understand the complaints about the pissy raises we got. While I would like to have gotten better raises, Did you all really expect a large corporation to give us an inflation adjusted raise? Corporations aren’t charities (why do you think the rich get richer?). We are just a line item in their expense sheet and they want that line item as small as possible. You gotta vote with your feet and find a better paying job outside of Shell.

there were praises to the fickle yet merciful Sh-elite for their bounty. The whole pageant was both revolting and still run of the mill for S-he-l. I would have loved to witness the employees' responses if Gretchen repeated her ridiculous bu-----t about not contributing to inflation as a reason for stiffing employees. But the words were incomprehensible over the din of slurping, licking, sucking and screams of ecstasy.

I hate this company. Inflation is 7.5% and we’ve averaged 1% raises for the last two years. Nobody gives a flying you know what about promoting Kamala to a Shell job she is unqualified for just because she “ticks the right boxes”
Let's not focus on what workers are actually expressing concerns about... You know, inflation, pay, job security, etc. Shows you how disconnected leadership is from concerns of regular people.
Besides all that, while we should strive for diversity, never forget that a lot of this stuff is simply a distraction that pits us against one another
As a mid career white male, if they are using quotas based on race, and there a lot of older white guys above me that aren't retiring soon , why should I stay here? Based on quotas, there is no room to progress junior or mid career white guys. That's not whining. That's just math. And they want me to be an ally for that shot?
And diverse people can complain they've been discriminated against or their ancestors were, but to then ask people to ally with them while they just change who gets discriminated against is BS.
