Boeing will use the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the disfunction that comes with it as an excuse for more 777X certification and delivery delays. Making excuses and giving big payouts to their executives is all they do these days.

Boeing now depends on other foreign companies to do most everything for them... This hasn't worked out well for anyone except the Boeing executives.

Even with titanium, Boeing has failed at everything they attempted this millennium. Everything that is except enriching their corrupt and greedy executives at tax payer and human life expense.

Boeing is always quick with some excuse why they miss development schedules or why one of their planes crashed. Don't expect anything to change as long as languish in business.

Lots of titanium here in Africa. Problem for Boeing is China controls all the mining and shipping. Like other rare earth metals used for magnets, China controls the raw materials and prefers to sell the products that use them and not the raw materials. China wants to eventually sell commercial airplanes and actually considers all these things in their long term plan. I get impression that Boeing only thinks about short stock price. I think China is thinking the right way.

Or you could redesign some of the parts and replace them with high temperature composites but I doubt Boeing has the expertise to manufacture them anymore. Just shows the shortsighted policy of the US being dependent on Russia and China for raw materials and manufactured goods. Would not be surprised if trying to do some planning to also invade Taiwan. Knowing full well that US has no ability to take on Russia and China at this point. Europe has under funded their defense for decades and has no will to fight.

Airbus and COMAC use titanium too, but they are not using it as an excuse for not delivering airplanes.

China,India and Russia engineers also do much of the Boeing engineering design these days. Boeing ULA uses Russian rocket engines.

Maybe Boeing should have considered the risks associated with outsourcing material, component manufacturing and labor. Boeing didn't have any problems back during the Soviet Union Cold War days back when they actually had competent engineers and engineering management.
