Talent is irrelevant when compared to who you know and what box you can check off. Professional experience used to mean something here but those days are long gone. If anybody is wondering why most of the talent is leaving, there's your reason. Nobody wants to stay where they're not respected for what they contribute.

Remember the story of how many people it takes to change a light bulb. Just multiply that a hundred fold. How many people does it now take to do simple changes. There is no trust anymore, no empowerment. Much of this is doe to how much institutional knowledge has been lost in the past year after the layoffs. Those that could leave, left, those still at RJ are the peons that barely know how to logon.
I worked at RJ and was let go back in 2008 during the previous mass casualty incident. I hurt for a few weeks, then found a job in Tampa at another large firm that has treated me with dignity and respect. I tend to be a workaholic and put in many more hours than necessary but that is my choice. I did the same when I was at RJ. My current company recognized this on multiple occasions. At RJ there was no such thing. About 3 months ago a new employee (recently at RJ) gave a number of us her story at RJ. It was so painful to hear. RJ is not the RJ of Tom or Bob James anymore. It is just a sweat shop for people unable to work anywhere else.
