Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Store Hours Cut Big Time

So much for the hourly associates bonus. They just cut all F/T to 32 hours in Region 21. Marvin gives the Bonus with one hand and takes it back with the other hand!!! Yet they millions on the Vegas party and ASM’s get a $6000.00 bonus.
God Bless!

It is the associates that make it possible for the store to make it's quarterly metrics. It is the associates who make it possible for management to receive big bonuses! A very de-valued commodity.

Unfortunately, retail stores were all forced to hire/extend full time to current associates and new hires as it was near impossible to hire since people were making more money sitting at home than they were working. The same people complaining about their hours being cut are the same people that were complaining a year and a half ago about not having enough help and being asked to work too many hours and blah blah blah blah. Look I get it… but 1…. If you’re a PART-TIME employee, no one expects you to base your livelihood on a part time job, so there’s that….. 2… the reason why they have to cut and the reason why there are no employees on the floor is for the very same reason….. now they have WAAAAAAAAYYYYY too many full timers and it’s impossible to write an effective schedule with those limitations. Such is life, and 3… some comments just show that people are short sighted and can’t see anything other than what affects them personally. Do you really think that assistants and department sups are winning in this equation?? They’re the ones that have to get all that extra stuff done that everyone talks about not getting done because they’re only getting 10 hours… salaried assistants especially. But hey…. It is what it is.. they suck it up and do what needs to be done or they quit and find something else where the hope is that they’ll find somewhere better where the grass is greener. News flash!!! Retail is annoying no matter what!! Just different issues but same outcome.

The only way to get the attention is to let the big fund companies know the truth of what is going on in the stores. financial media outlets - report it!

Stores are only giving part time people 4 - 12 hours a week. Yet, the executives not only get their multi-million salary and the so goes for the executives. Meanwhile, back at normal stores, the backbone, part time associates are having their hours cut big time. Many are having a hard time making ends meet, but meanwhile, Lowes pays NFL players to advertise, plus commercials for NFL and again.....executives paid not only salary but bonuses.....very wrong.....

They want you to have Open Availability. But only want to give 0-12 hours a week !!! They are causing a financial burden. They want you to quit that way they don’t have to pay unemployment!!!! So wrong on so many levels. I can make more money working fast food . Shame on you Lowes

—- SO TRUE MCDonald’s is paying $17 to start in California.

At least they don’t have to throw freight off a 100 degree semi truck trailer into a store that rarely runs AC.

Hired a bunch of college students for the summer, gave them my hours cut back my hours from 30-42 per week to 12. Never mentioned ASM bonuses. Good pt employees are getting 1or 2 4 hours shifts per week. Where can I find out stats for my store?

I worked for Lowe's for 16 years and recently needed to step down to part time. The first couple of months I was getting 20 hours a week. I'm currently getting 6 hours a week. How does Lowes expect a person to survive with 6 hours a week. Store stated we have to cut hours. My question is why did you hire so many part timers when you can't give them hours and treat a dedicated employee the same as a new employee. i can see why Lowe's is losing a lot of good people. I feel were just a number and when we quit they find someone to replace us with cheaper pay.

I just started at Lowes in Texas. They have hiring signs everywhere , However I got less than 20 hours in the Last 3 1/2 weeks. I went two weeks with no hours . I ask why they said they are only giving 4 hour shifts. And that corporate is cutting hours. They want you to have Open Availability. But only want to give 0-12 hours a week !!! They are causing a financial burden. They want you to quit that way they don’t have to pay unemployment!!!! So wrong on so many levels. I can make more money working fast food . Shame on you Lowes

If they are not making the budget why don’t they close the stores early instead of cutting employees hours ? That would save on heating costs and electricity instead of hurting those that have been so dedicated!

But but but...we can't cut out the Vegas extravaganza with the little workers debasing themselves for the Lowes Has Talent thingy...

Greed is a bottomless pit which exhausts the person in an endless effort to satisfy the need without ever reaching satisfaction

It is borderline silly how the corporatists run things now. The store i am at (and i'm sure most others) have broken records steadily during the last two years. We went from a 45-46 million $ store to doing $56 mil. But, you get one or two down weeks and they cut cut cut like we are on the verge of bankruptcy. Some good part timers have been lost due to getting no hours. Customer service, which they claim to be their priority suffers as there is a scant handful of employees working. And yet they stay open til 10:00pm which is crazy as we rarely do much after 8/8:30. You surely do not need to be acutely bright to run a home center in todays age.

Bless your heart, hon... you know the answer is right there in your statement. If they treated you any better they wouldn't be able to do those important things like the Vegas party and the ASM bonuses.

30% full time/70% part time in the stores is the new staffing ratio. If you want full-time you will pretty much have to either be in some sort of support position(mst, receiving, freight flow) or management.

This year is going to be the reckoning for Marvelous and Tiny Hands Joe. The gravy train of the past 2 years is done! They will be merciless in cutting cost in an effort to save themselves. And the hourly associates in the stores will be the people that suffer!

They keep hiring more p/t at my store. Looks like they want the f/t people gone. After 5 years I’m done with Lowe’s. There’s to many other companies hiring now. A person shouldn’t have to go through this cr-p.
