Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Fulfillment all day long??

We were told that Fulfiment not just BOPS will be filled “all day long”? Is this accurate since this was not communicated to me directly(as usual)….was wondering how this will work with UPS pickups and storage after UPS has picked up for the day? Does “all day long” just mean until like 4:00 or 5:00 or until closing???

I heard this week that Macys will soon be implementing a newer Help Desk where each site has to call in the issue for Tech Support. I’m adding to this thread as it will affect areas like Fulfillment where service is needed more urgently when something is down or not working. Has anyone else received a communication on this? Supposedly they will take away the function to open a ticket at the register and also shut down access to ITXpress on a PC.

@3obd. You just tell the customer the merchandise is already sold. It's that simple.

Yes picking with store open is a disaster, customers will shop our picking carts.

Don't fixes something that is not broken. Doing fulfillment all day long it's a complete nightmare. Doing picks when the store is open and dealing with customers at the same time it's ridiculous.

I'm just wondering how many employees work in a fulfilment team? Our store have 7 team members working in fulfilment. But ever since our store was part of the Innovation Selling Program last year, Merchandisers are helping out with fulfillment picks and sometimes package. I'm guessing probably the Selling Support Merchandisers will be helping with fulfillment, now that we be doing fulfillment all day long. It's working now because everyone is working as a whole team.

@wdb I was the Team Lead at Sears and we did exactly the same thing. Fulfillment all day long till closing. All fulfillment had to be completed at end of shift and closing. Worked like a charm.

Fulfillment Captain here: We have people who work until 6pm on a regular basis and sometimes until store closing. They will pick/pack /ship for the whole shift. When the last person leaves for the day (or night) all packages must have been run through MyShip. Nothing can be left to pack for the next day. We pick/pack/ship about 10-15 items at a time. Wash, rinse, repeat. This actually helps your 'speed to ship' because this metric is calculated from the time the order drops into the system until the time it's run through MyShip. Thus, if you are packing an order that dropped in an hour earlier, your speed to ship on that order is great! As for UPS pickup, they'll pick up whatever is ready to go and you'll print the manifest. The team/person can keep on packing and those items will show with a ship date of the next day. My store doesn't get any weekend pickup so our items are just stored on racks in the fulfillment room. I hope that helps!
