Thread regarding Optum layoffs

No annual raises?

I’ve heard a rumor that there are no annual raises being given at all to Non management employees this year due to “a tough year”. Even though UHG took in 17.5 billion in profit in 2021. Has anyone else heard this or are there any truths to this rumor?

They want to get rid of grey hairs and experienced teammembers--they know too much. They want wet behind the ears, green teammembers. Folks they can use, abuse, and promise them the world. then when They get hip to the US corporate jive, they leave, and the vile and corrupt American recycle repeats. It helps maximize profits to the capitalists and fraud street

Got 1500 bucks for bonus , it will be 50% of that because of taxes. .So around $750. I got mostly 4 grades and a few 5s. They said the company is cutting back and I should be grateful for the opportunity. Sounds like typical US BS.

The tough year they are speaking of is the court case the lost to the Federal Labor board where they were convicted of fraud. Now they have to pay out 15+ billion. That money has to come from somewhere.

2% which with inflation at 7-8% is a pay decrease, yet the capitalists made billions off of the sick and the infirm. And still NO universal health care during a pandemic....

There is supposedly a rule that if you got any grade level promotion during year, you could get no raise & no higher then a 3.

If you don't mind to provide an update after you meet with your leader, please post an update here. My team is awesome and I'm frustrated that I cannot provide any raise, especially in this year's inflation. We are going to have a mass exodus after the bonus is paid out if this is true (and I don't blame anyone, I may be included).

My leader is telling us that we are having the yearly 1 on 1 meeting (annual review thing) but they havent released whether we get raises or not. Seems a little fishy to me.

Well that’s unfortunate (for my staff). Thanks for being transparent about this, as I suspected as much.

This was messaged to me team by our director for communication my direct reports (29 here). No raises for any employees except the lump sum.

I’m trying to figure out is if this is isolated to specific parts of UHG and Optum or is company wide and the reason provided is not truthful. I have to deliver the news next week during review to my direct reports, minus the non management part. This occurred last year as well.
