Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

Severance should be safe

While they legally don’t have to pay severance in some regions, they will though it may be reduced. Let’s say they lay off 5% at acquisition and don’t pay severance. There would be a mass exodus at Citrix and they know that. And no, they can’t just go out and rehire 5k employees who left and get them adequately trained. It would sink the company and their investment would be worthless. They’re goal is pretty obvious to repackage Citrix with Tibco and go public again after the cloud transformation. It’s the most profitable path. Outside of that, they could sell off parts of the company, but that’s much more difficult. There are only a handful of companies or PE firms that have the funds and specialize in this industry.

Agreed. And for anyone only staying with a job because they've been there for a long time and may someday get a huge payout... you're doing it wrong. I mean, it's nice if the unexpected happens and you have some money to help you until you find a new gig... but you don't hang around a place you don't like, just expecting it to happen. Besides, it's FAR easier to find a gig when you already have one.

There would not be a mass exodus of employed people because some suddenly unemployed people didn't get a windfall.
Been in this situation. Didn't happen. People largely don't care about what happens to other people as long as it isn't happening to them.
