The end of consulting

Do you share the opinion that consulting is being left to die?
Sales are only focused on migration projects to achieve your ARR goals. There is no attempt to sell consulting projects for us to do internally. They just want to place one or two consultants on each project. But it is clear that it is not a priority.
All this is confirmed by viewing the annual evaluations. They do not hide that there is no career plan, there is no training plan, there are no clear profiles defined, no new hires.
The effort is not recognized despite exceeding all objectives. The results have been spectacular as they say but the variable barely exceeds 100%. It doesn't make sense...
Does no one in senior management realize that it is the wrong strategy?

Consulting was delivered by Professional Services when I was at TD. They were supposed to help the customer get their solutions up and running smoothly. Hours were either included with a hardware deal or the customer could sign a contract for one at any time. They were also a bug in the customer’s ear or fly on the wall. Always listening and letting the Solution Architect (part of sales team) know if an opportunity for an expansion she be discussed with the customer. If they were not making money for TD due to lack of engagements, they were let go. Also if a customer did not like the Consultant they would be reassigned or fired. Price charged hourly to the customer varied.

Try selling consulting here in the US at a rate where your customer can buy 30 consultants in India for the same price. Blame the free trade agreements

When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.
