Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Network and Security teams are the devil

Can't post this anywhere else so I have to post it here. Customer's networking and security teams cause more problems and inhibit more progress than any other factor I have seen during 10+ years of working at VMware. They act like they are hot s&!t and never get anything wrong, and that is so frequently untrue. If I had a nickel for every time that it was falsely stated that "there are no issues with the network" or "it used to work and nothing has changed" which turned out to be BS, I would be able to retire by now. I know that our own Legal and InfoSec are a huge block to productivity also, so it must come with the territory.

Folks, it may be inconvenient, but both are needed.

vmware, having its software used in governments all over and fortune 100 companies, is a target.

The security teams are supposed to keep us safe from employees making wrong decisions (using OSS and never updating, using vulnerable software), etc.

The legal barriers also prevent people from doing the wrong thing. Developers are not in a position to make legal decisions (such as reading an understand license agreements) for the company.
