Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Advice

Hello!

No layoff news, I just do not have social media to ask elsewhere.

I worked for Lowe’s for almost a decade. Have been gone for a little over half a year due to moving. I finally put in an application and got a text for an interview that I set up. Now I’ve gotten a text cancelling the interview.

I left my previous store in very good standing. So, I know I’m not on any kind of don’t rehire list.

My question is, does them scheduling the interview mean I should just move on? I understand there might have been a scheduling conflict. I just wanted to see if anyone else has had this happen and did they end up eventually interviewing at a later date, or simply receiving the rejection email.

Thank you.

Original poster here.

Please excuse the typo. I meant did them CANCELLING the interview mean they weren’t going to move forward with me.

Thanks for all of the advice and information. I was on the fence about even applying. I had been fed up with the things happening with the company for awhile before I left.

They haven’t gotten back with me still. That and the information about part timers let’s me know I need to just move on and explore other options. It was for a part time position so I’m sure they just might not be hiring anyone.

Just when you think Marvin and his cronies have done their worst, they pull another stunt. Maybe if they didn’t squander money on ridiculous award show style meetings in Vegas and unnecessary “swag” boxes for minorities, they might be able to keep people on the floor.

I can confirm @3eig+1fkkknei is telling the truth. Currently been with the company for 17 years and been in the SSA spot since Marvin nix'd the in store HR position. I got an email yesterday at around 10am that stated that all part time associates were to not be scheduled for the next five weeks. I was also emailed forms to hand out so they can apply for unemployment, otherwise it's take a LOA or quit. I've already called 15 or so people today, just to tell them that the options.

As it was beforehand, my location was already on a skeleton crew. Now for the upcoming weeks, my location is going to be a complete sh-t-show. There is not enough full-time associates to even schedule cash registers to be opened without having to schedule specialists to be on registers instead of working their departments.

With this just coming out of the blue, I see bad things coming down the pipeline for the employees. Be warned, and polish up your resumes, it's going to get ugly.

Lowes Management today just told most Lowes part time employee’s that they can not come back to work for five weeks. Without out regard for any of the full time employees who are left to cover the 60% of the employees who were laid off today. No notice just that’s what corporate decided- now eat it, make it work, and shut your mouth.

Apparently the company is doing "restructuring" after these bonuses they just gave. Several new hires at my store have been told that they won't be scheduled for the next several weeks due to hour cuts.

Find another job. You're better off flipping burgers at McDonald's.

If you enjoy unneeded stress and can fog a mirror, Marv's Band Of Retail Misfits will welcome you back aboard the sinking ship!

The new scheduling software is glitchy at times, if you were not eligible for rehire it would have never scheduled an interview. Try to apply again or call the store.

Trust me and look for work elsewhere. I left back in May 2021 after 9 years and Marvin has ki---d this company. Do you want to have off 1 weekend every 2 months, not having off 2 consecutive in a row, not knowing what your next rotation will be.
