Nobody wants to work here anymore. We can't get anybody with any knowledge or experience to join. We've been waiting to backfill three positions on our team for SIX MONTHS! That's six months of us having to cover the extra work. If they think this will go on forever, they need to think again. The rest of us are very close to walking away.

What is going on!!!! I was asked to fill in for someone and I was told it would be for 3 weeks while he was on vacation. I was also told that this would be a good learning experience and opportunity to be a supervisor since my career progression has hit the ceiling for an engineer and there was a lot of room for growth as a supervisor or manager. I asked who would backfill my projects and was told to do my best to keep them on track and my supervisor would understand if I fell behind. The 3 weeks turned in to 5 and I had a face to face with my boss and he told me the guy quit and I would need to do my best while they search for a permanent replacement and that I should throw my hat in to the ring for the open spot. When I told the people I was supervising they all kind of laughed cause they all knew he wasn't coming back one week in to his vacation cause he called a couple of people to let them know that his vacation was working at a new company to feel them out and he loves it there and will not be coming back. I apologized to them for not be up to date on the information and that I would do better to keep the team in the loop but in my mind I was angry for being left out by my manager. One of my direct reports realized I was upset and took me aside to tell me he was probably going to bail and that there are a few open spots at the other company if I am interested. Heck ya I am interested!!!
This company rewards sociopaths, and discards anyone who questions that.
My boss informed me we need to open/full several new roles in our org. We are don’t have enough work to go around as it is (boss is well aware of this) and several people have complained about not being challenged, my guess is they’ll end up leaving, so we’ll have to replace them also. Why hire people if we don’t need them and aren’t utilizing the people we have?
I have had the opposite experience but it is even worse. There are like 3 or more people from Marathon doing the work that 1 person from Andeavor use to do. Even with more people less work is being done and terrible quality. The worse examples are in IT, project managers, and engineering since it seems like they get paid by the hour and just coast forever until there is a deadline then they rush something cr@ppy in just to beat the clock. Marathon is such a mess that i hope somebody buys them and makes things better.
Here at corporate I’m tripping over accounting, finance, IT, and HR people and more keep pouring in. None of them seem to do anything besides loitering around in the break room and internet surfing Company is going to sh&$
Same story, not GBR. Been filling 2 positions for almost a year. No recognition or acknowledgement from management.
OP is probably from GBR it is a fu----g sh-t show there.
The real question is what is the total distribution Of trans bathrooms in the comps y?
Six months? Management will say “The work is getting done so now we can’t justify hiring anyone. But here’s a pat on the back and some pizza.” That is what happened in my group.
wow 25% higher? whats the office policy with Covid?
OP can’t be in corporate. Corporate has had a hard time hiring, but has opened up the wallet to get hires. The 2 new people on my team are 25% higher than anyone else and have way less experience.
GBR is AT LEAST 25% understaffed in projects, engineering, maintenance and tech services. Most of those groups are at about 50-60% of their headcount from before covid, and the work hasn't gone down at all.
what area do you work in? don't have to be specific just curious what area is struggling so much?
