Do you feel there's age discrimination at Shell? I think once >50, opportunities decrease a lot in terms of getting good assignments

what did you expect? lmao.
ageism is actually less relevant in o&g as it is in newer fields like tech.
unless you want to prove that a 60yr old boomer who struggles to restart his/her computer is worth 2.5x an engineer with 3-5yr exp
That is a comment from the typical narcistic pr--k that wont be able to last at Shell into their 60's lmao
So many of my peers in the >50s left in the last two severance rounds, the only vibe I am getting from the company now is thankfulness for my experience and high energy level.
Yes, of course there is, just like at every other employer. It’s as ingrained in life as any other inherent human instinct. If you are fortunate enough to survive your 20s-30s, you will experience it. So buck up because it’s waiting for you.
Is it wrong? Unfair? Of course it is. But it’s a form of discrimination that will never be eradicated.
I can tell you from experience and confirmed with others, the age discrimination starts at 38-40 at Shell. Of course it’s not against the law until you hit 39-1/2 which is why She’ll starts the discrimination before that. Good luck proving age discrimination when She’ll shows you performance has been dropping since age 38. Don’t waste your life here, get out well before 38.
It is all about who contributes what to the bottom line. Starting your computer does not necessarily benefit the company, the argument is valid the other way as well.
If you are dead wood you better leave regardless of your age.
If Shell doesn’t need the >50 generation just give us a severance package and we’ll be gone and HAPPY about it!!!!!!
We had our opportunities over the past 30 years. If you have not leveraged that, your JG’s and investments by now, it’s not going to matter, you won’t make up for those lost opportunities now.
Its because you're not woke. Plus, you're whiteism outweighs your ageism

Well that’s just natural. When you start working for Shell at 22, there are tons of opportunities in the lower JGs. Once you hit 50, you are typically JG2 or JG1 and there fewer letter category jobs available. It’s not age discrimination…just fewer promotions available once you’ve reached the upper JGs.
Sh-t man I’m 25 and they want me to stay at my current job to “learn and grow” for another 10 years.
