My personal opinion is that neither Splunk nor Cisco will be better off if a buyout happens. Moreover, it is not at all clear to me why Cisco's leadership thought that a takeover of Splunk was a good idea. Any thoughts?

Splunk HAD a good product once. But it ain't enough they wasted 8 years going to the cloud which wiped out their time and money and it's been disastrous.
LOL at anon post saying Splunk has a good product. Splunk has been lying to investors for years. Splunk does not have a good product.
Splunk is not profitable. If the deal happens there are going to be synergies. The most obvious areas are: finance, HR, IT. These are areas where there are redundancies.
Splunk has a good product and intellectual property as a mid sized tech company they can't survive in the public markets. Competition is too fierce they had to be sold to survive. Period.
