Im early in career and never been a part of a company’s downfall. I’m looking for other jobs but need advice: what do you recommend to say of why you’re looking for a new job? Other than Citrix is done for

You can be fairly honest and that shows actually maturity in the way you anticipate your future and are not waiting.
The key argument would be that you have ambition and value to deliver to your employer to make business happen, and Citrix isn’t the place where this will happen. You don’t want to waste your present and future as you know the boat is sinking because there are better places to value you and deliver result from you.
- Better opportunity for advancement
- Stability
- Alignment with career goals
- Culture fit
- Better alignment
All the suggestions here are great. You just dont want to say something that could be a red flag, like: conflict with managers or coworkers, or for you to express negatively about the company. Thats the reason of this question, its to see if you express in a negative way or if you keep it professional. Keep it simple and as positive as you can.
Yep, nobody's business, really.
I've been here for awhile, and I'm just seeing what opportunities are out there.
Looking for a new challenge. That’s all you have to say and that’s because no one cares, don’t over think it.
Due to the recent changes I dont feel confortable continuing a career with the company. Or it is a great company but I do not longer feel is the right place for me. Or due to the recent layoffs and current changes I dont feel the necessary stability to continue with the company… or not stable enough to make you feel comfortable.
Layoffs are not about low performers, at least not at Citrix. If the interviewer wants more details, which they usually dont, Just say that seeing high top individuals getting layoff made you realize the company is not the right fit for you. Then focus on why you want to work for the other place.
I've talked to several recruiters and nobody is shocked why I'm leaving. I just tell them they are going private and I don't want to work for a private company. I always emphasize that I don't believe my position is in danger and am just getting a feel for what is out there. The market is so hot they really don't care so long as you pass their vetting process. People are jumping around from every company including more successful companies no one is going to bat an eye.
